Bustos Continues Cheri on Shift in Peoria and Fulton Counties On Thursday

(Canton, IL)  --  The Represenative from the 17th Congressional District in Illinois participated in another Cheri on Shift.  Congresswoman Cheri Bustos made stops in Peoria, Canton and Wee-Ma-Tuk just west of Canton on Thursday.  While in Canton stopped at Spoon River Electric before traveling to Wee-Ma-Tuk where Bustos started her 72nd Cheri on Shift installing lights for Spoon River Electric.  Bustos said that something she has learned since she started is there is a lot of good people are out there trying to support their families. Bustos spent the morning in Peoria at PMP Fermentation Products, a manufacturer of gluconate. While in Canton and Wee-Ma-Tuk yesterday afternoon, Bustos helped begin a project to convert mercury vapor/high pressure sodium lights to LED lights.

Illinois State Police To Participate In Saturation Saturday

(Macomb, IL)  --  Illinois State Police District 14 Commander, Captain Jon Dively, has announced plans for Saturation Saturday enforcement. The enforcement initiative will occur on Saturday, August 25, 2018 in conjunction with the Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign which runs from August 20 through September 4. Saturation Saturday is a statewide initiative with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to raise awareness on the dangers of drunk and drugged driving, and increase enforcement to remove and arrest individuals driving under the influence. Troopers across the state will join county and local law enforcement agencies for increased enforcement during the evening hours of August 25 and early morning hours of August 26. State of Illinois sells $965 million in bonds

(Springfield, IL)  --  The State of Illinois has sold $965,770,000 in General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series A and Series B of September 2018. The $641,160,000 Series A of September 2018 were a takeout of the State’s $600 million in 2003B variable rate bonds and the termination of five swaps associated with those bonds. The refunding will eliminate all the variable rate exposure and remove the highest-cost debt from the State’s capital market programs. Proceeds from the $324,610,000 Series B Bonds of September 2018 will be used to refund several series of previously issued general obligation bonds of the State. Total debt service savings of $33,643,047, or 5.89 percent of present-value savings were derived from the Series B Bonds, and each individual bond selected for refunding in this series had in excess of 3 percent present-value savings to the State. The State received bids from 87 institutional investors totaling $4,166,070,000 in orders, or a 4.3 times subscription for the bo

(Canton, IL)  --  Fulton County Rehabilitation Center, Incorporated has announced the Staff of the Month for August.  Laura Peters has been selected as Staff of the Month for August of this year.  Peters is the Program Support Person, and has been with FCRC since February 2016. As the Program Support Person, Peters plans and schedules events for the individuals served both inside and outside the facility. She has been very busy this summer planning events such as trips to the zoo, shopping, library, fire station, local parks, the movie theater, Camp Big Sky, and the orchard, to name a few. Peters also brought in individuals for educational events, a pampering day, and craft activities. Peters is dependable, flexible and fills in wherever she is needed. She gets along with everyone and takes special pride in her one-on-one interactions with the individuals she serves. Peters is now eligible for 2018 Staff of the Year.

Manufacturing Boot Camp Classes Start September 11

(Macomb, IL)  --  The Office of Community Outreach at Spoon River College in Macomb is offering a Manufacturing Boot Camp from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning September 11 and ending on September 27. Four Wounded, One Arrested In Quad Cities Stabbing (Rock Island, IL)  --  A Rock Island man is looking at a host of felony charges after police say he went on a stabbing spree Tuesday.  Prosecutors yesterday filed charges against 29-year-old Dmarlo Bryant.  Investigators say he stabbed a 44-year-old woman, a six-year-old boy, and a 19-year-old woman, and bit a 22-year-old man.  But they are not saying why.  Police say none of the injuries are life threatening.
