Manufacturing Boot Camp Classes Start September 11


(Macomb, IL)  --  The Office of Community Outreach at Spoon River College in Macomb is offering a Manufacturing Boot Camp from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning September 11 and ending on September 27. The classes will be held at the Macomb Outreach Center.  Area manufacturers – NTN-Bower, Pella Corporation, Yetter Manufacturing, Schuld/Bushnell, and Vaughan and Bushnell – recently teamed up to hold a job application rodeo and a meet the manufactures event in Macomb in preparation of the 350 new jobs they say will be coming over the next 18-24 months as they complete upgrades and product lines along with other preparatory work. The program is designed for those interested in employment in manufacturing or who have recently joined the manufacturing workforce, and will feature lectures with some hands-on learning. Topics that will be covered include introduction to machining and electricity, machine shot mathematics, blue print reading and tolerance, measuring, safety in the workplace, and other essential workplace skills.
