SRC Hosts Volleyball Camps
The athletic department at Spoon River College hosted two-day volleyball camps in July at the Multi-Purpose Building on the Canton Campus, one for those ages 4-8 and one for those in high school. Both offered instruction in the basics of the game and utilized fun drills to develop and strengthen skills in serving, hitting, blocking, and passing.
“I was impressed with how well attended our very first camps were, and it was wonderful to work with kids from around the community and give them the opportunity to see our facility,” said Makenna Barker, who has been hired as the head volleyball coach for the program that Spoon River College will begin offering in the fall of 2019.
“I am so excited to be a part of this new program, and I am looking forward to working with our future athletes,” Barker said.
Assisting Barker with the camps were Lewistown seniors Hannah Burdess and Kaitie Van Pelt, Canton senior Cassidy Locke, and 2014 Lewistown graduate Angel Myers.
