Peoria Hospital: Over A Million Patients Exposed In Hack

(Peoria, IL)  --  A central Illinois hospital is apologizing after a hack may have exposed information about nearly a million-and-a-half patients.  UnityPoint Health in Peoria earlier this week said someone hacked their system using an email phishing scam back in March.  UnityPoint said in a statement that they didn't discover the hack until the end of May.  The hospital's statement says hackers were able to get access to protected health information and other personal information.

New Theft Charges Filed Against Former Bloomington Coliseum Manager

(Bloomington, IL)  --  The latest theft charges against the former manager of Bloomington's city-owned coliseum accuse him of using taxpayer dollars to pay for minor league hockey.  The Bloomington Pantagraph reported yesterday on an indictment from late July against Bart Rodgers.  He's already facing charges for mismanaging the arena.  The new charges say Rodgers transferred 15 thousand-dollars from arena management accounts to the Illinois Pro Sports firm where he was a managing partner.

Deadly 2017 Crash Leads To Prison Time For Davenport Woman

(Rock Island, IL)  --  A Davenport woman will spend time in prison after agreeing to a plea deal in a deadly 2017 crash.  The Quad-City Times reports Shelly Markin received a nine year prison sentence on Monday for the crash that killed Terrida Atwater.  The crash on East 10th Avenue in Milan also injured a passenger and Markin was reportedly drunk.
