Retail Theft Charges Filed Against Canton Man

(Canton, IL)  --  A Canton man is facing charges after an incident that took place last week in Canton at a business along North Main Street.  Canton police say they were dispatched to Hy-Vee located at 825 North Main late Friday morning at just before noon on the report of a retail theft.  Police say that store personnel told them that a male had left the store with a case of beer without paying for it.  Officers identified the man as 53-year old Wade A. Stewart.  Authorities were unable to locate the man on Friday, but Saturday morning at about 11:20, police were again dispatched to Hy-Vee as the same man was attempting to leave the store again with a case of beer and not paying for.  Store managers attempted to detain Stewart but he dropped the beer and fled the store. Police say they located him at Sycamore and North 1st Avenue where he was arrestede on a retail theft charge.  Stewart was then taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed.  He was unable to post bond and Stewart was later transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

Canton Man Facing Drug Related Charge

(Canton, IL)  --  A Canton man is facing a drug related charge after Canton police were dispatched to an address on South Main Street in Canton last week.  Police say they were dispatched to an address in the 1200 block of South Main last Friday night at just before midnight. Once at the scene, police spoke with one of the suspects, 23-year old Devin C. Tompkins.  Officers found that Tompkins appeard to be intoxicated.  While police were talking to him, the spotted three hitter piples in his bedroom.  He was then arrested on a city ordinance Citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.  Tompkins was given a notice to appear and released at the scene with a September court date at the Fulton County Courthouse in Lewistown.

Warrant Results In Lewistown Woman Being Arrested

(Canton, IL)  --  A Lewistown woman was arrested as a result of a valid warrant last week. Canton police say they were dispatched to CEFCU to the drive thru on the report of a female that was having difficulty with the machine last Friday afternoon at about 4:30. After police arrived they identified the woman as 50-year old Dawn R. Taylor.  An investigation found that Taylor was wanted on a 2015 Fulton County Warrant failure to appear, pay order for a DUI. She was then arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where she was processed for the warrant.  Taylor then posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee.  She ws then released. Taylor was given a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Robbery Could Lead To Long Prison Sentences For Davenport Women

(Davenport, IA)  --  Two Davenport women are facing long spells in prison if convicted of a robbery they're accused of committing.  Nancy Hoffman and Amber Woods are charged with first-degree robbery and Hoffman is also charged with second-degree burglary.  Police say one of the women broke into a home on LeClaire Street last Friday afternoon and took the victim's wallet.  The other woman is accused of staying in the car.

Former Mercer County School Bookkeeper Charged With Theft

(Aledo, IL)  --  Prosecutors say Mercer County Schools' former bookkeeper stole tens of thousands of dollars over a couple of years.  The Mercer County State's Attorney's Office yesterday announced charges against Angie Dellitt.  She's facing two counts of theft, one that covers what investigators say she took from the school and another that covers what she allegedly took from Mercer County Schools' booster club.  Prosecutors say she spent the money on trips, meals, and hotel rooms.
