Drug Charges Filed Against Canton Man

(Canton, IL)  --  A Canton man is facing drug charges after being arrested over the weekend.  Authorities say they responded to an address in the 500 block of West Chestnut Street early Sunday evening at about 5:30 in regard to a male that was allegedly destroying the inside of the home with a hammer after receiving a complaint from a 32-year old Canton female.  The suspect, 36-year old Paul W. Slater, was taken to Graham Hospital to be evaluated.  Police say they found a small clear jar in his pocket that was determined to have methamphetamine in it after testing postive.  After being released from the hospital, Slater was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

Canton Man Charged With Violating Order of Protection

(Canton, IL)  --   A Canton man is facing charges after he allegedly violated an order of protection.  Canton police say that officers stopped a passenger car near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Hanlon Street Saturday night at just before 6:30 after seeing 38-year old Gabriel L. Siegfried inside of it.  Police knew that Siegried had an expired driver's license. They also found a 36-year old Canton female inside the vehicle. During their investigation, officers found that the female had an order of protection against Siegfried.  he was arrested for violating the order of protection.  He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle without proof of insurance.  Siegfried was taken to the Graham Hospital Emergency Room to be treated after he complained of problems breathing. After being released from the hospital, he was transported to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

Canton Woman Turns Self In On Warrant

(Canton, IL)  --  A Canton woman wanted on in regard to an active warrant turned herself in last week. Canton police say that 42-year old jennifer L. Stremmel turned herself in at the Canton Police Department on a 2018 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant, failure to appear, pay order for deceptive practice.  Stremmel was arrested for the warrant and processed.  She posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee. Stremmel was then released with a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Aaron Schock Wants Trial Moved To Peoria

(Peoria, IL)  --  In addition to a new judge, former Illinois congressman Aaron Schock wants a new courtroom.  Schock's lawyers yesterday asked to move his corruption trial to Peoria.  Federal prosecutors say Schock lied on Congressional and campaign spending accounts to fuel a lavish lifestyle.  The request comes a few days after the court removed the Urbana-based judge who was set to hear Schock's case.

Search Still On After Threat At Quad Cities' High School

(East Moline, IL)  --  Authorities in the Quad Cities say they're not going to stop looking for whoever called in a threat to United Township High School last week.  Police locked down the school for about an hour-and-a-half Friday.  East Moline Police Chief John Reynolds says if they find out who made the call, they will arrest them.
