NASA Mission Named After University of Chicago Astrophysicist
(Chicago, IL) -- A University of Chicago astrophysicist is the first living person to have a NASA mission named after him. Eugene Parker will be at Cape Canaveral later this month to watch NASA launch its Parker Solar Probe. The mission will take a spacecraft closer to the sun than ever before. Parker is a 91-year-old professor emeritus at the U of C who is best known for introducing the theory of solar winds.
