Families Upset With Quad Cities Zoo Over Memorial Plaque Removal

(Coal Valley, IL)  --  Zoo managers in the Quad Cities say they didn't properly explain why they removed memorial plaques from across the zoo.  A number of families told the Dispatch-Argus yesterday that they are upset that the zoo never explained why their plaques were removed.  Niabi Zoo director Lee Jackson yesterday said the zoo had a plan to replace broken or worn plaques, but then decided to remove all of them.  Jackson says they're planning to create a new, centralized memorial garden at the zoo.
