Crop Report

(Undated)  --  Corn continues to progress ahead of schedule according to the weekly crop report.  Corn is well ahead of last year and the five year average, with 90 percent in the dough stage and 45 percent dented.  77 percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition.  Illinois Crop Statistician Brad Summa says 90-percent of soybeans are setting pods. Three percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition.  That's down slightly from the previous week. The third cutting of alfalfa is now 70-percent complete.  Average statewide topsoil moisture now stands at 10 percent very short, 30 percent short, 59-percent adequate and one percent surplus.
