Crop Report
(Undated) -- The topsoil moisture declined compared to last week according to the latest Illinois Crop Report. Illinois State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener said that 69-percent of the topsoil moisture was rated adequte. There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending July 29, 2018. Statewide, the average temperature was 71.3 degrees, 3.7 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged .19 inches, .66 inches below normal. Corn dough reached 64 percent, compared to 32 percent last year. Corn dented reached 6 percent, compared to 1 percent last year. Corn condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 15 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 29 percent excellent. Soybeans blooming reached 92 percent, compared to 86 percent last year. Soybeans setting pods was at 77 percent, compared to 48 percent last year. Soybean condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 25 percent excellent.
