Suspect In Knox County Murder Due In Court Next Month

(Galesburg, IL)  --  The suspect in a Knox County murder case is due back in court early next month to face the new charges against him. Prosecutors in Galesburg upgraded the charges against James Love earlier this week. A judge yesterday set Love's preliminary hearing for August 6th. He remains free on 300 thousand-dollars bail.

Three-Month-Old Burned By Fireworks, Mom Charged

(Bloomington, IL)  --  A three-month-old baby is recovering in a Springfield hospital after being burned by fireworks that went-off inside a car. Police in Bloomington say it happened just after midnight on Wednesday when Roman candles went off inside a car. Three adults were also treated for burns, then arrested on a host of charges including child endangerment.

Davenport Man Receives Sentence In Extortion Case

(Davenport, IA)  --  A Davenport man will be doing up to five years in prison for extortion.  Sixty-two-year-old Gregory Hintze was sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty to posting graphic photos of a woman on her front door.  As part of a plea deal, Scott County dismissed two counts of first-degree harassment from Hintze charges.

Quad Cities Mom Threatens Lawsuit Over Pool Access

(Rock Island, IL)  --  A Rock Island mom is threatening a lawsuit if the city's pool doesn't allow her son to use his floatie. Cassandra Cleveland says her son, Gus, was born with dwarfism, and the only way he can enjoy the city's pool is with the help of a floatie around his waist.  But Rock Island Parks and Recreation Director John Gripp says the floatie that Cleveland uses is not Coast Guard certified and not safe.  Cleveland says she thinks the pool is discriminating against her son, and will go to court if need be.

Quad Cities Girl Who Survived Duck Boat Sinking Back Home

(Milan, IL)  --  A young Quad Cities girl is back home after last week's duck boat tragedy in Missouri. Alicia Dennison's parents say the young girl's grandmother pushed her out of the boat that sank on a lake in Branson. Dennison spent a few days in the hospital in Branson last week. Her mother says Alicia is feeling okay, but they're waiting see what happens after her grandmother's funeral.

Search Continues For Missing Two-Year-Old In Mississippi River

(Rock Island, IL)  --  Rescue crews are expected to be back out on the Mississippi River for a third day as the look for a missing two-year-old Quad Cities boy. Crews in Rock Island searched yesterday for the little boy who fell into the river Tuesday night, but they didn't find his body. A dive team went under the water twice yesterday, and crews searched the shoreline near Schwiebert Riverfront Park. Rock Island Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Bob Graff says crews will resume their search today.
