Weekend Accident Near Fiatt Results In Injuries To A Canton Woman

(Fiatt, IL)  --  An accident Sunday night left a Canton woman injured and facing charges.  Deputies from the Fulton County Sheriff's Department say a roll over accident that had taken place on Illinois Route 9 in Fiatt last night at about 11:15.  The accident had reportedly happend near the intersection of Route 9 and Bradley Road.  An investigation indicated that a vehicle driven by 39-year old Mandy K. Schmidt was eastbound on Route 9 when she drove the vehicle into the ditch on the south side of the highway. The vehicle then struck a culvert and went airborne, striking a utility pole and coming to rest on the driver side.  Schmidt suffered moderate injuries as a result of the accident and was treated at the scene by personnel from Cass-Putman Rescue Squad, Cuba Fire Department and Fulton County Emergency Medical Association before being taken by ambulance to Graham Hospital for treatment of her injuries.  A further investigation resulted in charges being filed against Schmidt of driving while her license is revoked, opeartion of an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoide an accident and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was given the citation for the charges and will appear in Fulton County Court at a later date.

Canton Traffic Stop Results In Canton Mans Arrest

(Canton, IL)  --  A traffic stop in Canton resulted in the arrest of a Canton man last week. Police say that last Thursday they conducted the stop in the area of 8th Avenue and Elm Street because the vehicle had an expired registration. After making the stop officers identified the driver as 22-year old Jordan Beatty.  When approaching the vehicle police detected an odor of alcohol and then asked Beatty to exit the vehicle. Several field sobriety tests were performed, which he allegedly failed.  Police did locate a glass hitter pipe as well as a couple of open cans of beer inside the vehicle.  Beatty was then arrested on several charges, including DUI, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving a vehicle with an expired registration, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernallia.  He was taken to the Canton Police Department and processed on the charges.  Beatty posted a $100 cash bond, his driver's license and a $20 processing fee before being released with an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Canton Man Turns Self In On Active Warrant

(Canton, IL)  --  An active warrant resulted in the arrest of a Canton man.  Police say that 34-year old Chad Johnson turned himself in at the Canton Police Department last Monday.  Johnson was wanted on a 2012 Fulton County Warrant for failure to appear for contempt of court.  He was then arrested and processed for the warrant.  Johnson then posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was released with a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Felony Charges After Fight, Wreck In Bloomington

(Bloomington, IL)  --  Three women are facing felony charges after police say a fight led to a wreck in Bloomington. It happened very early Saturday morning on the city's west side. Police say the fight started as a disagreement over child support. Officers say the suspects managed to smash out a victim's car windows, then tried to smash the victim's car but missed and hit a building instead.

Quad Cities' Philanthropist Dead After Wisconsin Wreck

(Davenport, IA)  --  A Quad Cities philanthropist and TV contributor is dead after a wreck at a Wisconsin race track. KWQC TV reported over the weekend that Jim Victor died Friday after a wreck at the Road America Speedway in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Victor was a local financial planner, and a frequent contributor to KWQC news.

Suspect In U Of I Scholar's Death Ask For Presidential Info

(Urbana, IL)  --  The man facing charges for the death of a Chinese-born University of Illinois scholar wants to know if President Trump talked about his case. Brendt Christensen's lawyers on Friday asked to get any information they can from President Trump's Administration about Ying Ying Zhang's disappearance and whether the president spoke to Chinese officials about the case. Federal prosecutors are pushing charges against Christensen for Zhang's kidnapping and death, and his trial is set for April.

Family Promises To Keep Searching For Missing Quad Cities Tot

(Rock Island, IL)  --  The family of a missing Quad Cities toddler say they're not going to stop searching for his body. Friends and family held a memorial for two-year-old Hawk Newberry last week.  He fell into the Mississippi River earlier last week while fishing. Newberry's cousin says they won't stop searching for the little boy till they find him.
