Glasford Man Facing Multiple Charges After Attempting To Elude Canton Police

(Canton, IL)  --  A Glasford man is facing several charges after leading Canton police on a chase Monday night. Authorities say they received a complaint about a reckless driver in the area of Walmart on the north end of Canton.  Police say they spotted the vehicle in the parking lot at the store. Dispatch also told officers that the described vehicle, a blue Ford F150 pick up truck, had been reported as stolen out of South Pekin.  Officers say the vehicle was unoccupied in the parking lot at Walmart.  Officers spotted a man described by the complainant was wearing a blue tank top and tie dye shorts running from the store. He was able to get into the vehicle and get away even though officers say they told him to stop.  The suspect was identified as 35-year old Rickey D. Combs.  Combs left the parking lot at Walmart, heading southbound on North Main Street. He then immediately turned off on Marlee Drive.  Officers then found the truck had crashed into a tree in the back yard of a home on Marlee. Combs was not in the vehicle but was found about 30 feet from in it bushes.  He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed.  Combs was given a non traffic complaint for criminal damage to property over $500, aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and obstructing identification.  He also was given traffic citations for possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude a peace officer, reckless driving and driving on a suspended driver's license.  Combs was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. The vehicle was towed from the scene and is believed to be a total loss.

Warrant Results In Canton Mans Arrest

(Canton, IL)  --  A Canton man was arrested earlier this week for an active warrant.  Canton police say they observed Paul Slater walking outside of his residence in the 500 block of West Chestnut Street Tuesday afternoon at just before 3:45. Officers say they knew that Slater had a valid 2015 Fulton County Warrant for failure to appear, pay order, obstructing. After making contact with Slater, officers then placed him under arrest.  He was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed for the warrant.  Slater posted a $100 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released with a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Canton Woman Arrested For Driving On Expired Licensed and on an Active Warrant

(Canton, IL)  --  A Canton woman wanted on an active warrant was arrested following a traffic stop in Canton earlier this week.  Canton police say they ran a routine records check on a registration and found that the owner of the vehicle was wanted on an active warrant.  Authorities then conducted the stop Monday morning at just before 8:15 near the intersection of Main and Walnut Streets and identified the driver as 36-year old Tara Oatman, the owner of the vehicle.  She was wanted on a 2000 Fulton County Warrant. Oatman also had an expired driver's license.  She was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where she was processed.  Oatman posted a $750 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released with a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Galesburg Police Say Goodbye To Police Dog Battling Leukemia

(Galesburg, IL)  --  Law enforcement officers from across Knox County said a sad goodbye to one of their own.  More than a dozen officers stood at attention on Monday as Galesburg Police K-9 Hexa walked to the vet to be put down.  Police say Hexa was battling Leukemia, and was too sick to continue on.  Hexa got both a hero's goodbye and a hero's remembrance.  Hexa is credited with sniffing out 31 pounds of pot last summer along I-74.

Judge Orders Curtis Lovelace To Sit For Another Deposition

(Quincy, IL)  --  The Quincy man acquitted of killing his first wife is going to answer some more questions in the case.  A judge on Monday told Curtis Lovelace that he must sit for three more hours of questioning by attorneys for the city of Quincy.  Lovelace is suing Quincy Police and Adams County investigators as part of a civil rights case, he says they wrongfully accused him of killing his first wife back in 2006.
