New law requires hospitals to have specially trained staff for victims of sexual assault.

(Undated)  --  Sexual assault victims will soon receive more specialized care when they go to the emergency room.  By 2022, hospitals must provide specially trained staff to all rape victims with in 90-minutes of arriving under a new state law. It was sponsored in the Illinois House by Representative Mike Unes who represents a portion of Fulton County including Canton. The Bill also lets young victims have an exam done at a locally approved pediatric center instead of the E.R. Unes says the goal is to make the whole process of going to the hospital and having evidence collected less traumatic for victims.
